The Bookwalter General Surgery Retractor is a table-mounted self-retaining retractor designed to provide stable, hands-free exposure during open abdominal and general surgical procedures. Its modular framework combines a field post, horizontal bar, horizontal flex bar, post coupler, retractor rings and adjustable ratchet mechanisms to support selected blades around the operative field.
The General Surgery configuration includes a medium oval ring, a medium segmented ring, two standard non-tilt ratchets and six multi-angle tilt ratchet mechanisms. The set also includes Balfour, Kelly, malleable, Harrington and Gelpi blades in different configurations.
The complete system is supplied in a dedicated sterilization box for organized storage and processing. The system is supplied non-sterile and is designed to be reusable and autoclavable. Cleaning and sterilization should be performed according to the healthcare facility's validated procedures before use.
