The Bookwalter Posterior Spinal Retractor is a table-mounted self-retaining retractor set designed for stable, hands-free exposure during posterior approaches to the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. A 12″ field post, post coupler and 1″ horizontal bar support a modular frame built from a half circle segment and 4″, 6″ and 8″ straight ring segments. Six standard ratchets and four tilt ratchets position the included Meyerding blades, Scoville hooks and prong rakes.
Product Description
The Bookwalter Posterior Spinal Retractor is a table-mounted self-retaining retractor set designed to provide stable, hands-free surgical exposure during posterior approaches to the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. The set mounts to the operating table using a 12″ (30.5 cm) field post, a standard post coupler and a 1″ (2.5 cm) diameter horizontal bar.
The working frame is modular. An 8½″ (21.6 cm) half circle ring segment combines with 4″, 6″ and 8″ straight ring segments so the frame can be assembled to match the length and width of the incision. Six standard non-tilt ratchets and four multi-angle tilt ratchet mechanisms secure the blades to the frame and allow blade angle and retraction depth to be set independently.
The included retraction hardware covers a range of exposures: Meyerding blades in ⅔″ × 2⅓″, 1″ × 3⅓″ and 2″ × 3¾″ sizes, small and large Scoville hooks, and 3-prong, 4-prong and 6-prong rakes. All components are manufactured from non-magnetic, surgical-grade stainless steel and supplied in a dedicated sterilization box.
The set is supplied non-sterile and is reusable and fully autoclavable. It must be cleaned and sterilized according to the healthcare facility's validated procedures before use. Retractor Maker manufactures and supplies the set directly from Sialkot, Pakistan.
